    rusting 870

does anybody have trouble with rust on their 870. the side by the ejector port has a spot that seems to be more than surface rust. looking for options on what to do.

If it is an Express then it is the matte finish and yes, you will have issues unless you keep it wiped down. Leave finger prints on it and that will be rust because of the salt on you skin.

The best option is always oil it and wipe it down after you handle it. Another gets pricey and that is have it parkerized. Avoid painting it.

Yes it is the express model. thanks for the responses. it makes me feel like a bad gun owner to see rust on my shotgun.

Search 'Eezox' under this forum, and it will yield some suggestions.

The express model is a total rust bucket especialy under the rib. Just keep the rust off the bolt and out of the bore. The outside of the gun is just cosmetic. The wingmaster has a chrome bolt and real blueing it would solve your rust issue too.
