Looking for a 450 dollar double barrel

I already have a fantastic 870 pump but I'm looking to get that western like style side by side double barrel shotgun. How much does one have to spend to get a decent one? I'm hoping that one can be bought for my budget of 450 and below. I've done some research and the only I can really get a lot of info on is the Stoeger models which are very neat but pushing a bit far over my price already..

Make an offer on the M1889 Remington hammer gun in the private sales section. It looks like steel barrels (not Damascus) and is the real thing. If it is tight, it would be a great shooter for low base target loads. I have the same gun in 10Ga, the problem with mine it is hard to find light load 10ga ammo. Start your offer at 200.00 (make sure that the barrels are steel and the lockup is tight)

I'm pretty sure Big5 has a coach gun for right about what you're looking to spend(I think it's a Stoeger). There are also a few used ones in the classified adds right here on CG.

Yea I should have mentioned that I'm preferring hammer less actually. In any case, I have been to my local big 5, but not in a while. Usually they have 4-5 coach gun like sizes and at a decent price. But I'm sorta hoping that I could find out what brands are more up to par in terms of quality. I'm not using this for home defense and its only purpose would be clays.

Stoeger or Baikal. You shouldn't have a problem finding a quality coachgun for $3-400. Used for a bit less.

ah, coachgun may not be the best tool for that job. Quite a few floating around on Gunbroker in that price range, and there is a few here, too.

Yea I'm meaning basically, a side by side double barrel, hammer less but a 20 inch barrel max/minimum, and 12 gauge. Choke adjustments I really dont know alot about, so dont mind if it has a fixed one or not. I like that size and never seem to have problems hitting clays with my 870's shorter barrel.

                    ><

You may want to vist your local shops and cruise the used rack.

At your price range for a new double there is very little under that price and you might consider saving up 700-1000 for a 10 times better quality gun.

A 20" barrel is a coach gun, and also not very good for clays. Do you mean 28"?

I never seem to have many issues with my pump or 20 inch single shot shotgun with hitting clays. In any case, I'm preferring the length 20 inches (I guess that's the ideal or normal coach gun size), up to lets say 24 if that arbitrary size exist.

Okay then. If you can't find one there, and have an FFL that is decently priced,

Yea that's a Remington spartan that you linked? I thought they discontinued it? I keep hearing people say that the Stoeger and Baikal are good ones. I couldn't find a website for Baikal though...

If you get down Milpitas way, Targetmasters has a half-dozen used SxS shotguns on the rack. I was there today, and their used prices are pretty good. I didn't look that close at them, as I was shopping for something else, but they had some nice looking O/Us in that price range.
