    Bulge in 00B shell

I recently purchased a box of Winchester Super X 00B Shotgun shells. While loading my mossberg 500 I noticed there was a bulge towards the bottom. I am assuming that it is unsafe to shoot but was wondering if this is very common and possibly what would of caused it. Pics included.

I have not encountered this, but I certainly would NOT shoot it. It looks like too much pressure was used when crimping.

Maybe someone who reloads can chime in.

I have about 50 walmart buckshot shells around here and never saw anything like that.

I was looking into returning it but i was looking at my receipt and realized that walmart has a no return policy on ammo which i'm not surprised.

Walmart will take ammo back if you insist. Defective merchandise is defective merchandise.

If it chambers, shoot it or, bring it to me and watch me shoot it. Nothing will happen to you or your firearm. The worst that might happen is that the entire plastic hull will break at the base and come out in tack. It'll be no different than shooting a slug.

It's probably not a big deal to shoot, but better safe than sorry. I'd guess that the press was a little frisky that day.

Was it all the rounds in the 5 pack or just the one?

I bought 2 packs of 15 and it was the only one in both packs that was deformed.

In that case I'd put it on the shelf as a curiousity and not bother trying to return it.

Dont't know what part of Socal you're in but, if you are close to Santa Clarita, I'm serious about showing you that it's not a big deal. But, if you come up, you'll need to bring a few boxes of bird shot and some clays to make it worth your while.

Hmm. Tempting but I'm about 2 hours away in the High Desert. I'll probably just keep it as a little knick knack since not to many people have one laying around.

Return is return, but u can ask for an exchange. Even the strictest no-returns policies often do not apply to exchanging defective merchandise for good one. I once bought a DVD from wally and it was defective. When I came in, they told me that I couldn't return the DVD since it was open. That was even before I asked them to just exchange it lol. Then they were cool and brought out a new copy. Give it a try

if you don't want to shoot it, contact winchester. give them the lot number off the box and they might just send you a new box of ammo for your troubles.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?
