The stock is the Mesa LEO stock. I like it better than the Knoxx as the Knoxx does not take interchangeable buttstocks or grips. The Mesa will take any. Also, the Mesa is all metal (except the stock and grip of course) whereas the Knoxx is all plastic. The flashlight is a Streamlight Scorpion in a scope mount, attached via a Laserlyte tri-rail.

I love my 982 and rely on it for HD, it's built like a tank. My Wingmaster is butter and a loner for friends who want to learn clays and my Beretta is friggin heaven. Got rid of my Express, tired of shells jambing and rust from fingerprints.

I see what you mean about it being all metal...but doesnt that add a little more weight? Also what do mean by different grips and butts? Im guessing only interchangeable between Mesa products right?

Just started the DROS for a hawk 982 at my local big 5(chula Vista) today. The woman at the counter said she has one more left at her store and none at the Palm ave location she said El Cajon store might have a few. The 199 sale price is good till Sat, I got it for like $242.49 OTD. Pick it up on the 3rd really excited since this is my first shotgun!

Added weight reduces felt recoil, which may not be an issue if this is a recoil absorbing stock. Is it?

The Mesa does come in a recoil model (it uses the Enidine hydraulic buffer tube), but costs about $150 more than the model I have. I don't think the stock overall weighs much more than a synthetic, anyway it's not really noticeable. I put a Limbsaver pad on it so that helps.

Picked up a Knoxx stock. I gotta say it feels awesome. Having the weight of the gun in a pistol grip position feels great. I feel as if it has more balance and is lighter on the wrist when reloading with the opposite hand.

Only thing to do now is shoot it and see how the recoil feels. (Im going to bring the original to compute which is better.)
