Tools, a little mechanical aptitude, and a conversion kit .
The ones sold in california are already california'ized with a mag lock. No matter what you do to the shotgun the mag lock HAS TO STAY on. You cannot have a detachable mag shotgun in california.
I went and got a S12 and while its a fun gun i got bored with it right after about the 30 rounds I put through it. I guess bored is not the right word. more liek I was expecting more out of it. I guess i am more used to my Mossberg 500 pump. I guess the mag lock is what really gets the PITA factor up and makes me not like the gun. i can load my 500 over and over quickly. Faster than my Saiga will ever be loaded with a mag lock at least. I installed a Saiga 308 wood stock and fore end grip on it rather than converting it. i think it looks better and less chance of getting bothered. For some reason wood stocks don't "scare' people as easily as a all black rifle with a pistol gripLast edited by Rob454; 12-19-2010, 8:33 PM.
