Please recommend a good folding stock for an 870

In person I've only seen ati's top folder and a side folder that the lapd use. Using search I've read the ati cuts your face. Can't identify the lapd one. Anyhow looking for a good folding stock for an 870 I plan to buy. It will be a truck and camping gun. Prefer to spend under 100 new. Wondering if I can attach a neoprene pad on the ati so it doesn't cut your cheek? Last thing, I'd prefer if I can shoot it while in the folding position (have seen pics of one where you can't access the trigger while folded. Thanks for any help. Hope it makes sense-(typing through a phone)

I don't mean to threadcrap, but IMO there are no good folding stocks. They are universally terrible to shoot with (to a greater or lesser degree) and almost always develop play over time. They might look cool but they have no practical purpose in my book. Your 870 already breaks down for storage...

If you have to have a folder, the best one for the 870 is supposedly the original Remington metal top folder. They are a bit rare but there is one for sale in the marketplace. Check it out.

I think the Knoxx Spec Ops top folder is about the best one out there otherwise.

folding stocks have practical purposes, they are not terrible to shoot with for someone that knows how to correctly operate a shotgun, and the 870 does not easy "break down" you are essentially disassembling the weapon, making it useless.

I own more shotguns than anything else so I'm not new to them but I want something that stows away easily in my commuter car's little trunk and also my duffle bag. Breaking down an 870 takes too long for my intended purpose of having it so a folding stock is my choice. I could go pistol grip or Serbu, but I wanted more stability and I like the 870 setup for this.

Thanks for the heads up on the factory stock. I mentioned buying new because I didn't want to end up buying a "loose" use factory stock. I'll look into it though.

Aside from being kind of klunky, sadly it's really one of the best folder that's been made.

I just did a search, seems Arms Tech makes a Galil style folder for 870's. Not sure what the price is, and never heard of the company before, but if the lockup mechanism is metal, it would probably be the most durable:

Choate side folding stocks work very well. They cost more, but they are worth it. These are what the motorcycle police have on their shotguns in my area. I have one and I am very pleased with it, it locks up solid as a rock.

Those are the ones I've seen the laps bike cops use. Look similar to butler creek but these are it. Not sure if they all use these but the ones I met did.
