The Remington 870 Wingmaster

That statement just about merits a thread of it's own. I'd be curious to know more about a 500 that is destroyed in 500 rounds, since mine is 30 years old and shoots/functions flawlessly.

FWIW, my experience with Mossberg's customer care has been positive although my interactions were over small things like parts.

Indeed it is strange and it makes me very very sad. It was my belief that Mossberg shotguns were renowned as reliable and widely used firearms.

Whats more! /a friend of mine purchased a mossberg 500 identical to mine not two weeks later and he has had no trouble what so ever.

I may have caught a lemon or perhaps the standards of mossberg manufacturing have declined over the past 40 years. In any case I was able to make out through to mossberg corporation and they arranged to have the gun shipped to texas where their gunsmiths will get to the bottom of the problem.

Either way this gun has shaken my faith in Mossberg and I will most likely retire it for the benefit of wayward friends who havent the sense to buy shotguns, rifles, and pistols of their own.

The Wingmaster to be mine is nicely set up, 2 shell mag extention, 18 and 28 inch barrels, I am excited now.

I have a Wingmaster it was my 2nd gun and i have mossbergs. my 870 has a 30 inch full choke barrel and its really good gun! i like the mossbergs better tho. what happen to your mossberg? maybe i can help you fix it? I have well over 5000 rounds through mine with out any problems.

I have 150 rounds through my 3 week old Remington 870 and no problems yet...I will easily get past 500.

When I think shotgun I thing Remington.

I bought a CHP 870 Wingmaster trade-in over 20 years ago and shot it heavily, never had an issue with it.
Have you tried contacting Mossberg through their email? I needed some warranty work done on a 930 SPX, that was the only way I was able to get a hold of them, never could get through to anyone human by phone.
