    Quick family gun transfer question

Hey everyone, i had a quick question about transferring a shotgun between family members.

Long story short, i have a temporary car licence right now (due to some strange rule regarding me getting a motorcycle permit, nothing that would prevent me from buying a gun) so i dont have a California picture id right now. Can my father purchase a shotgun for me for Christmas and transfer it to me, and if so how would that work?

    Thanks everyone.

If you and your father are both California residents then he can buy a shotgun and then give it to you as a gift. You don't need a picture ID for that. He just gives you the shotgun.
