hawk 982 trigger guard- plastic?

I have read threads from a few years ago that the trigger guard on the Hawk 982's were aluminum, but looking at the current ones in the store they look like they are plastic to me. Anyone have info on this? Can you buy an aluminum replacement part for an 870 and swap it out, if they are in fact now plastic?

It would be a polymer trigger guard and more durable then cast aluminum so it would be unwise to swap it out. The polymer trigger plate assemblies and trigger guards are more durable. Go to www.aiptactical.com and on the "build your weapon" link, about half way down is a link to a Ruger video that proves this.

I cant say anything about the new hawk 982 but the one i bought last year has a metal trigger guard.

I just checked mine and it's metal (aluminum.) Bought 2 years ago.

haha I guess so! Now I know there's no replacement for an 870, but the Hawk 982 is sure a nicely made shotgun for the price. I don't think there's anything else out there for the same price that feels as good. Not including used guns of course

Exactly -- next thing you know they'll be making half the gun out of MIM parts instead of forged, with a toilet paper tube barrel, and a toothpick for a firing pin. Just like the 870!

I just bought mine a couple weeks ago too. The trigger guard is plastic.

Speaking of the trigger guard.... I always wonder if it is worth to upgrade the trigger assembly of our 870 Express (or similar models) to this Police version?

Any insights are appreciated.

It's only a trigger guard. If it breaks, replace it. If not, why bother?

Yes..My 870 clone indeed has a non metallic trigger guard. Alot of them due including the mossy 500s. Not really an issue except for combat shotgunning like the military/leo.
