    Mossberg 500 SPX

Whats your guys opinions of the Mossberg 500 SPX model?

So far I have seen it run for around $500 or so.

Good reliable shotgun. 500 or Remington 870 and both good choices. SPX model looks awesome. Just wish you could add a magazine extension to the 500.

I agree with you completely about the magazine extension. +2 rounds just sounds so much better when you only get 5+1 to begin with.

I have one, its awesome. Looks aggressive and is surprisingly light. Im going to put a compstock on mine this week to cut back the recoil a bit.

So what magazine did you buy to make that conversion. Looks clean. When I had a 500, I tried looking everywhere for a longer magazine that would work with my 18.5" barrel. No dice. No one makes a magazine extension either, unless you want to do machining work, and make it.

Looks nice...whats the difference between this and the 500A?

Both look the same to me...

magtube was a cut down 7 shot that you would see on a 20" barrel 500. Take down lug was moved forward to accomadate the new magtube length. Barrel and magtube Duacoated. I wanted something that most people do not have, and so far I have not seen another one.

Or my other idea was to instead of the Mossberg 500 SPX is to go for the Remington 870 express tactical and then look to add a pistol grip to it. This way I can get it with a larger magazine.

The Mossberg you have though PRC77 looks very clean though. How much did you spend on it? My only thing is I want my shotgun with a pistol grip.

                        I paid $175 for the Moss ATP8 20" barrel 8 shot shotgun
                        I bought a new 18" barrel and 7 shot magtube. $105 ish
Gunsmithing and Duracoat was $180 approx.

If you're looking in that price range, you're better off getting the 590 special purpose with 9-shot capacity.

The pistol grip collapsable stock on the 500SPX is a cheap plastic ATI stock. You're better off getting a Knoxx Spec Ops stock or even a Mesa Tactical stock in the long run.
