    SxS Wingshooting

Does anyone share the passion for hunting upland game with the old doubles?
A good day in the field with close friends and old shotguns.

    Wingshooting talk on Calguns

It appears that most of the folks posting here on Calguns are more interested in chatting about the latest tacti-cool acessories or which guns one might want to have on hand in case of a zombie attack.

As you probably already know, there is plenty of upland hunting talk on the Upland Journal and Shotgun World sites-- but it would be nice to have a more California-centric forum.

It's not exactly old, but I do have a SxS Stoeger Uplander I love to take out for Trap.
But I figure I should get better at trap, then maybe move up to Skeet before I even think about shooting at any birds... LOL

      Here's my Stoeger...

And here I am shoot'n trap...

I did make a video of my wife and I shooting trap and I was using my Stoeger, but the video was real grainy and you couldn't see any of the clays.
There is a place in the Delta where you can rent dogs and shoot some water fowl of some sort (I can't remember what they are). I've thought about checking it out, but like I said above... I gotta get better first... LOL

      BTW...
I like to tacticool out my Shotgun too, and you can never be too prepared for the zombie/robot invasion....LOL
But that's what my Mossberg 500A is for...

I originally posted to this thread but then deleted my post. I did that since I realized the original poster was essentially spamming Calguns for advertisement purpose only. Notice this has been the first and only post by the poster....yet they sure loaded up their signature with links on hunting with them in the South.

Plus this thread should have been in the Hunting section and not shotguns.

          !

...and Baron, that's some fairly nice looking wood (as much as I can tell from the photo) on your Stoeger.

Maybe you're thinking of the Hasting's Island Hunting Preserve in Rio Vista?

Thanks yeah there is alot of wood on her...
She fun to shoot, but kicks like a mule

I was actually thinking of Black Point Game Bird Club and Birdslanding hunting preserve ( http://www.birdslanding.net/ )
I do alot of fishing out in the delta and these areas are pretty nice. If you like Marshy Delta Type Places... LOL

I'm not sure if Hasting's rents dogs, but I know that Birds Landing Hunting Preserve does (in Birds Landing, CA right on the Delta). And their dogs are great! The last one we rented sniffed out 8 birds for us in less than 2 hours.

I have an old (Savage) Fox Bse that I am afraid to take out for birds, I'm barely hitting them with my autoloader . I figure I have until August/September to hit a few clays with it before Pheasant starts back up.

I prefer the feel of my Browning SxS, to my other shotguns. Sometimes get some interesting "looks" while shooting clays or during the dove and upland bird season.
