    The flow chart loses me.

I think most questions, like this one, come from people, like me, who hope that we have mis-read the shotgun flow chart.

    Okay, here goes...Saiga 12
With MAG Lock, Without Folding or telescoping stock, With Pistol grip.

Can it have a Vertical Handgrip?

What if it is not Vertical? Something like this one. Magpul AFG2

    Thats an sbs too

As long as its got a mag lock it can be nice and evil, as long as it meets OAL requirements and is 922r compliant you can go bananas. But why do you have the urge to gain jellybean status?

Ok, let me walk you through the flowchart, with a maglocked Saiga12, you would get all the way past question 12 and then go to question 13, which asks if you have a folding or telescoping stock. If you say NO, then you get a legal determination. question 14 does not even apply to you at this point, so it doesn't matter if you have a PG, VFG, AFG, etc on it.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

No posts of mine are to be construed as legal advice, which can only be given by a lawyer.

          Negative, negative, negative!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shotgun laws are different from rifle laws.

ALL semi-automatic shotguns must have a fixed magazine. There is no such thing as "featureless".

Now, on the features, the shotgun may have EITHER a folding/telescoping buttstock OR a pistol grip, but not both.

          Now....
On the flowchart, question 13 is "Does the shotgun have a folding or telescoping buttstock?"
          Yes or no.
          If no, it is legal.

If yes, then move on to question 14, which is "Does the shotgun have pistol grip, thumbhole buttstock, or vertical forward grip?"

If yes, then it is illegal, if no, then it is legal.

Therefore.... without a folding or telescoping buttstock, any OTHER features are good to go. With the folding or telescoping buttstock, it may have not have a pistol grip, thumbhole stock, or VFG.

Note that "flash hider" is not a listed "evil feature" for a shotgun.

So to answer the original post, yes, a Saiga-12, with a maglock, pistol grip, VFG/AFG, and fixed buttstock is legal.

Thanks, I can live with that.

Now all I have to do is find a competent gunsmith to build it. I don't have the skills to do it myself, and I am a perfectionist. That can be an expensive way to do things, but it keeps me from loud surprises and legal entanglement.

why do you have the urge to gain jellybean status?
I inventoried all my "status urges" this morning and could not find anything vaguely resembling jellybean. Maybe I'm not looking in the right place. Can you provide some additional definition of that term?
