I've had a number of handguns but today I picked up my first shotgun, an Interstate Hawk 982. While cleaning and lubing I noticed that the forearm isn't quite centered. More specifically, the gap between the barrel and the forearm is slightly greater on the right side when viewed from above. Looking straight across from the rear of the gun to the front, I can see that the forearm is tilted to the right side ever so slightly, hence creating the mentioned gap. It almost seems as if though the slide assembly is out of wack by a few cm's. Despite all this, the slide appears to be operating fine. I checked out a friend's Mossberg 500 and it doesn't seem to have this issue. Is this even an issue? Am I just being too nitpicky?

Forearm centering

It can be an issue depending on which forend is on that weapon. If the forend comes back over the receiver and it is not centered it can rub the finish off the receiver. To line it up you need a forend wrench. loosen the forend nut, line the forend up and then tighten the nut down.JD McGuire, Owner

If you're going to a gun fight, take a shotgun. If you can't take a shotgun, don't go.
