    Which shells for an M4?

Just DROSed a Benelli M4 at the Turners 10% off veterans sale. I'll be heading to the Ventura gun show this weekend and want to pick up a variety of shells.
What ammunition do the Benelli's like for...

    Range/Clays
    Home Defense
    Slug

    Thanks.

Id say buy as many different kinds of ammo you can find and see what shoots well in your gun and go from there.

+1. narrow it down to the type ammo you require for selected purpose; try different brands.

even with shotguns... yours may/will like one particular brand or load more or less than an identical shotgun someone else owns.

It's gas operated and may not like dust loads... unlike the M1 which will run anything.

Winchester target rounds don't seem to cycle well in mine. I've put 100 rds thru mine to date.

federal multi purpose loads worked well for me.

yeah I would stay away from winchester (universal)birdshot, their buck is good stuff tho.
get a few of each brand and try them out, some semi-auto shotguns can be really picky.

My wife and I are running Federal LE13200 in ours for home defense. We haven't had any issues with it. We also have the Federal LE127RS slugs in case the HD scenario somehow goes longer range. No issues with that ammo either, although we've only shot about 20 rounds of it. Ammoman.com has both of those here.

Buy Federal LE type 00 & slug..these are brass based not brass coated steel. after a couple hundred rounds of the premium stuff you can start trying some lower price ammo to see how it functions.
1st Wipe off all the factory lube..oil her up lightly and enjoy the weekend. If you try cheaper ammo..it could be a frustrating day and lead to doubts about your premium shotgun...break it in right and be proud of your new weapon...its the best on the market no matter what the others say.

My M4 loves that 1 1/8" bulk pack stuff you can buy at Wally World for clays. Eats it up all day and all night.

It ate any normal buck and slug I fed it as well without any issue.

Just avoid low recoil stuff or low weight birdshot and you should be a-okay.

Just remember, when breaking in a new Benelli shotgun to shoot high power loads/ high brass shells. It took about 200 rounds (50 slugs, 50 00 buck, 100 high brass birdshot) to fully break in my Benelli. Now i can shoot any cheap wallyworld shells.

Great! I can't wait to break her in. My plan was to strip her down first, clean out all the lube and then put on a light film of Slip 2000 EWL, that lube keeps my AR and all my handguns humming great. What about chokes? Have any of you heard of these...
