    Problem cycling on Hawk 982

Hey guys. I recently picked up a Hawk 982 from Big 5 and while I was cycling it with some dummy rounds I noticed the action was getting stuck while coming forward and shells stopped chambering. I heard about this problem before and took a look at it and it saw that the forend action bar on the right side of the gun is going under the shell latch instead of over it causing the latch to keep the shell in the magazine tube.

I was wondering if this problem is fixable or will I have to get a new shell latch and forend tube assembly?

Thanks for your help guys. I'll try to get pictures up. My Internet is down and I'm posting this from my phone.

my buddy just bought a model 982 and was having problems with dummy rounds. What type are you using? plastic ones?

we were able to take it to the range and it had no problems

they are the aluminum A zoom ones. it does it with live ammo too as well as an empty chamber. It just seems like its out of spec. Ill be bringing it back to Big5 tomorrow to see about getting it replaced.

A certified Hawk armorer should answer in and correct the issue for you as these clones are quite popular in your state and the guys on this forum love them.

So I went to Big 5 and exchanging for a new 982 was no problem. Only downside, have to wait another 10 days.

I would suggest in the future that you take the shotgun out shooting with live rounds before you decide that there is something wrong with it.

I have had several pumps that wouldn't cycle with some of the snap caps and other similar rounds but had no problem with live rounds.

It wouldn't cycle any rounds. I saw that the problem was with the shell latch. Like I said earlier, Big 5 was great and exchanging it was no problem what so ever.
