How often do you shoot your HD shotgun?

I was giving my Remington 870 Wingmaster a check-up and decided to put on the 20" barrel since that is the set-up I would use if I needed to press it into service as a HD shotgun. It's been a couple of years since it has worn that barrel so I'm gonna bring it out this weekend for a little test run - hey, it's like I have a new toy . It's not that big a deal since I also have a Remington 870 Police model that handles the HD duties fulltime. I shoot the Police model once or twice a month, mostly just breaking clays. But then I thought about it, how often do Calgunners shoot their HD shotguns?

I've had it for years and really only shot it a few times the first year I got it. Since then I've purchased so many firearms I rarely get to shoot them each but once every couple of months. After 24 it becomes difficult and expensive to shoot them all..all the time.

i shoot mine when ever i shoot my hand gun . . just switch off ... keep it interesting. .

I used to shoot clays with my M4 1-2 times a month at 100 or more rounds per session over a period of about a year and a half. I stopped when I got furloughed though, and haven't quite gotten back into it. I'm really getting the itch though, and birdshot is still cheap.

It's kinda funny that I know a few shooters who go shooting weekly and I didn't even know they owned HD shotguns until they mentioned it to me. It's just not fun for them to shoot so they shoot other guns.

So for the people who only shoot it 3-4 times a year or less, is it that you don't shoot often at all? Or you shoot regularly but for whatever reasons you just shoot your other guns instead?

Oh, and I thought more people liked pie

I take my Mossberg 500 to TargetMasters and shoot paper targets to my hearts delight. I've been meaning to go to Chabot to shoot some clays though.

I'm in the 3-4 times a year bucket.

I shoot clays at least a couple times a month with a variety of other shotguns so I get plenty of trigger time to keep me satisfied. Shooting my 870P amounts to making sure it still is doing what it's supposed to do, rotating ammo and some basic drills (including loading) to retain proficiency in both problem solving and manual of arms.
