    Tiny mossy

At the crossroads show I saw a tiny mossberg shotgun. Pistol grip, and short barrel. I asked the guy if it was too small and he said it was 18" or something.

    Well, I want one.

Any ideas where I could find one? Or could I put one together myself?

    It's a Mossberg 590 AOW compact cruiser.

Anyone know where I can pick one of these up? This is still under the same classification as a full size shotgun right?

AOW stands for "Any Other Weapon", and is a term from the National Firearms Act of 1934. There is some kind of hocus pocus wording of that law that says if a shotgun never had a shoulder stock then you can shorten the barrel below the 18" limit and register it under the NFA as an AOW instead of registering it as a Short Barreled Shotgun. If the shotgun did have a shoulder stock at any time then it is not eligable for this kind of conversion and can only be converted to a Short Barreled Shotgun. The registration/transfer tax on an AOW is only $5 while the registration/transfer tax on a SBS is $200.

Either way the shotgun is going to be an NFA/Title II weapon and you will need Federal permission and the permission of your local Chief Law Enforcement Officer and maybe even a permit from CalDOJ.*

Ive seen those for sale at a few gunshops around here. They were around $325.

Pretty cool. I want one too. The ultimate truck gun.

I was thinking of getting one before my 590a1 but decided against it cause it would probably break your wrist

Those shotguns are small, but they arent AOWs and SBSs.. they're just like any other guns. I've seen them on the racks at gun shops here.. IIRC, the barrel is 18.5" long and the overall length is 28"

                  Sure you don't mean a 500 Cruiser? http://personalsecurityzone.com/cgi-...roductID=20995

That one above looks like a breaching shotgun, with that muzzle device on it...

I saw it also at the Crossroads gun show last month...

This is the "Mossberg 500 Tactical Cruiser" p/n: 54125, which can be used to tenderize your meats, shove jagged end toward badguy at high velocity, or use breaching rounds to make putty out of door locks.

BTW, if you get this... Add the Knoxx Breachers Grip.

You wrist will thank you - each and every time you shoot.

Oh, and the barrel is 18.5 and overall length is over 26" - it's a long arm.

Where can I get one of those cool "serrated" looking muzzle things for my 500A??
What is it supposed to do?
                      Is it permanently mounted??

                      you mean this guy?

I think it passes the "bragging rights" test as well.

Too bad, I haven't been able to find anyone who sells the barrel only... (It's supposed to be a heavy barrel w/the breacher end on it)... Which I assume means it's using the 590A1 style heavy barrel stock.

If anyone knows where to buy the breacher barrel for a Mossberg 500A, let me know.

Dude, shooting a 12-gauge shotgun without a buttstock is no fun! They definitely look cool, but they are painful to shoot.

IMO just buy a standard 870/500/590 with an 18" barrel and put a pistol grip on it and replace the forend. I think Hogue makes the best grips for shotguns.
