I was wondering where you guys would recommend me getting my 870 refinished at I want something a little more durable. I've scratched the hell out of my finish practicing tactical reloads with snap caps that have been extracted to many times and just being rough with the gun while practicing in general.

The only gun that has had signs of rusting was an 870 that I left in the safe oiled for about a year when I lived in Vegas (DRY) and I don't want it to happen to this 870 also because it always comes back. I was thinking about doing a duracoat on it but I'm considering if it would just be cheaper for me to get a really good paint job on it professionally I want it to be a tough finish nothing fancy a matte Black but I might consider a FDE too I'm not sure yet.

I'm sure duracoat is great-n-all, but if your going to use the gun the way it has been used so far, I'd go with Rustoleum automotive paint topped with Krylon camo. Then if it scratches, you can just wipe it off with paint thinner and have another go.

But for the love of all that is holy, if you have a wood stock, trade it with somebody that has a synthetic stock they want to trade.
