    Cleaning recommendations

Wondering what people here recommend for cleaning materials for both o/u and a Remington semi shotgun.

    Thanks.

Just your basic Hoppes kit will work.

    The Basics:
    -Solvent
    -Gun Oil
-Rod, with Brush (Bronze is usually Best) and Patch Holder.
-Patches (old t-shirts cut up work fine)
-You might need pipe cleaners and some gun grease for the semi.

Boresnake followed by a standard cleaning - Hoppes, patches, then oil. If you're shooting a lot use a solvent to take care of the plastic from the wads every few weeks. Also I use a larger boresnake - 12 ga for my 16 ga and 20 ga shotguns. Boresnakes are great for field or initial cleaning but don't do a complete job. Don't store the gun in a case.

Shotgun newbie here -- what problems does plastic fouling cause in an HD shotgun? (Not going to be used for hunting or trap/skeet; max distance is likely to be less than 20 yards, more likely 15 or less). Is the main issue rust/corrosion (because somehow the plastic promotes that problem), accuracy, or something else?
