Have you looked in the firearms parts section of the Marketplace forum yet? It wouldn't hurt to also post something in the WTB section of the Marketplace.

          Good luck.

I agree, I bought a "tactical" mossy w/ pistol grip and collapsable stock. After taking it shooting (indoor, 3gun, duck and skeet), I realized that for me and most people I know, a regular stock is 100% faster and easier to use. If you have wood furniture just look in the classifieds for a composite set to reduce maintenance and weight. For home defense save your money on a good set of night sights or a docter red dot sight.

              No Pistol Grips on Mossbergs!

I know Mossberg markets these things, but the PG puts the safety completely out of reach and effectively useless. Not something to render useless.

The other posters point out major distractors to the PG also. Please listen to reason, the only things you need to convert a standard shotgun to a HD gun is a bright white LED light, really. A velcro side saddle from 3 Gun Gear for a quick 6 reload and you are set. That's it. All the other crap people hang on their guns add weight in the wrong places, compromise reliability or just aren't needed. K.I.S.S. = Keep It Simple Shooter.

If you need more than 4 or 5 rounds of 00 buckshot to solve a HD situation, you are a drug dealer, a outlaw motorcycle member or you live on the Mexican border and have to defend against drug cartels. That scenario withstanding a good old 500 will serve your purpose well. You will not have the CSF or the CDIF (Cool Stuff Factor and Chicks Dig it Factor) but it will serve the purpose. FYI for the CSF and CDIF a Vang Comp 590 is just the ticket. It's an expensive ticket, but all the CSF always is.

If you have fantasies about engaging hoardes of Zombies and wish to convert your 500 into a Zombie Killing Machine (ZKM) then you're going to have to upgrade to a 500 or 590 9 shot.

^^ Righto. Forget the pistol grip PERIOD.

Get a cheap buttcuff (mine holds 6 more rounds) and a side-saddle, preferably the velcro kind. Don't forget a light....

i got a Mesa tactical telescopic stock with buffer for my 870P right here from a member of the forum.

do your homework... then search and find here. you shouldn't have to look too long and far.

if you are a fan of the internet... Gunbroker is a good site to find these sorts of things; check out the feedback rating of seller before bidding or buying.

also... read the feedback already given here on your thread....

I must agree with all the negative PG juju.
I think unless you have tons of experience with a PGO know how to shoot it well and you understand how to use it then it should should only be used for fun at the range, not for use in an HD situ.

When I modified my Mossberg 590 I went with the Knoxx specops recoil reducer (pistol grip plus stock) and a Surefire forend light.
