    870 Recoil pad

I have a Remington 870 express that is about 2 years old. It has the stock Remington recoil pad and I would like to perhaps install something with a bit more cushion. I would also like to install a spacer to increase the length of the butt stock. Other shooters have mentioned the Limb Saver. Is this a good idea, or a waste of $. Cabella's and Midway list a Limbsaver for wingmaster but not express. Tell me from your experience what is the softest recoil pad and spacer that will fit this application that I can install.

I just put a Limbsaver on my 870 and am pretty happy with it. Took a bit of the edge off. Worth the money in my opinion. Sorry but I can't help you with what's needed for your particular model.

People also seem to love the Spec Ops stock by Blackhawk but that's a full stock replacement not just the recoil pad. But it's adjustable so it may be just what you're looking for. The one complaint on this stock seems to be the issue of cheek slap so you'll probably want to reserach this before you buy. I believe you can also put a Limbsaver on the Spec Ops for even more recoil reduction.

    Peace

        Limbsaver is good quality.

for your information... Limbsaver also makes a slip on pad for the M4 style srocks; it will fit on the Mesa tactical telescopic stock made for the Remington 870.

For an OEM Remington stock, you can also try Remington's own SuperCell recoil pad. I have one, it works very nicely.

every time I go to buy something I can't find the limbsaver 870 express ones anywhere. Though I don't think it's really necessary unless you shoot skeet quite often.

Otherwise my knoxx pistol grip recoil stock does all the work.

Remington Supercell will be, most likely, the easiest fit as it's made to OEM stock dimensions. It does a very good job, IMO. I'm getting ready to put on on an 1100 that I need a bit more LOP on. Gorilla arms have always been a hitch for me.

Limbsaver is very good equipment. I've shot a couple of different guns with Limbsaver mounted and those pads did an outstanding job. I'm trying to decide whether to replace the OEM pad, which is starting to get brittle, on my 870P and I am thinking Limbsaver will be it.

Both are available through Midway USA or Brownells without too much fuss or muss.

I'm a little fuzzy on that. It's a Police Magnum with a synthetic stock. Not sure if it's equivalent to the Wingmaster. But this shouldn't be that hard. Did you go to the Limbsaver site and look at the "Precision Fit" models?

Think you need sku 10102 if yours has wood furniture.

I ordered a remington supercell. No one lists a Limbsaver for an 870 express with a wood stock. Synthetic yes, wood no. Big dog has given me good advice in the past. I'll let you know how it tuns out in about a week when the supercell is delivered.
