    Pardner Single Shot

Howdy, I was looking through the Big 5 five ads the other day when I saw the H&R pardner single shot shotgun. I'v never owned a shotgun, but have shot plenty of pumps. So I have a few questions. Are these pardners good quality? Are they tanks or bunny rabbits? Can I break it easily?

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Single shots are cool shotguns. They're very simple and pretty bullet proof. The shell capacity is the only drawback of a single shot. Just throw a butt cuff on it and enjoy! H&R/NEF have a barrel exchange program where they can fit different sized barrels to your existing sg. 20, .410, etc. But you'll get more bang for your buck if you get an H&R/NEF single shot rifle, like a handi-rifle. You can utilize their barrel exchange program (you don't exchange your barrel, I don't know why they put "exchange" in there) to get a shotgun barrel. You can turn a rifle into a shotgun, but can't turn a shotgun into a rifle.
Unfortunately, Big 5 doesn't stock the rifles, sg's only.

If you want a fun sg, then pick one up. They went on sale at B5 a couple of months ago for $99! Should have picked one up when I had a chance. I have an old pre 1986 H&R Topper. They're pretty much identical to the Pardner. I actually have a Pardner barrel on my Topper.

I bought one. I like it very much. Kinda makes you wonder why guns are so expensive when you can buy this one for so cheap! It's pretty sturdy, but is still very light. Be forewarned though, this one kicks! Even with birdshot your shoulder will be feeling it. I went ahead and bought a sissy pad. Just the 10 or 20 dollar job from the Walmart. To me, this is the perfect survival gun. Light so you can carry it all day, but versatile when you consider all the loads for shotguns. Good luck!

I use to own one a long time ago. It is fun to shoot and if your really want the "ouch" factor, stoke that bad boy with 3" magnum load (depends if that particular model allows it)
