Should I save spent 12ga. shells?

Usually shoot slugs, Walmart variety - Smooth Bore barrel. I pick up my trash and most casings when I leave the range. I don't reload...what can a shooter do with the spent casings? Mostly Federal and Remington.

Maybe you have a friend that does reload... perhaps even a friend you haven't met yet I'm not set up for it and probably won't be, for the foreseeable future. So, I try to collect my range brass/shells and give it to various reloaders that I know. Just paying it forward, as the saying goes.

Save the shell casings, give them to your friends who reload 12 ga, or sell the casings to someone real cheap.

I did just that...but it was a bunch of random colored ones. It was a string of 100 lights that I have hanging in the gazebo in the back yard. IMO, they don't look 'redneck'. My wife likes them. I need to make another one to get full coverage in there. It was a lot of word re-crimping the shells around the light bulbs. Now that I have a MEC shotshell reloading press, it'll probably be easier to do.
