Hell yes it kicks....and I like it!

Mossberg 500 12 gauge combo with HD barrel, Tacstar shield/saddle/grip, Nebo Protec light/laser, Winchester 00 buck front to back.

It's definately rude, have to keep two hands on it, feet firmly planted shoot from the hip (do not raise it up to aim it like it's a hand gun), and know that what you hit will be torn into unresponsive pieces....

I've read the posts out there and lots of folks don't care for the pistol grip SG set up....I can appreciate those points made, but for me, I think it's an awesome option to have in the arsenal.

That said, are there any others out there that have a pistol grip HD beast in their collection that needs to be unleashed?

    let's see those pix...cheers!

Yep, hard to shoot, impossible to aim and almost 100% useless unless you are using it for a TV/movie thing or trying to compensate for something. But, you seem to already know that. So, if it fits into your wants/need congrats. I would recommend keeping the shoulder stock for when you realize that the PG only set up is as useless as teets on a boar.

clearly you've never played with a gun set up with a Knoxx breacher grip

my "hotel" gun is a PG'd 870 - I travel frequently as a photographer, I also end up in some pretty crappy places when clients book my hotel rooms for me. I've shot it a LOT and am pretty darn good with it... so to those that say "PGO sucks" I say... "meh, stop caring so much"

I'm assuming the gun he brings when he has to stay in a shady hotel in a shady part of town. At least thats how I interpret it!

Like that PG only 870 in the photo album on my web site that I built for a client that is an Over the Road driver. It lives in the sleeper cab of his truck. Yes, Yes and yes, these weapons have an application and knowing the limits of the weapon and becoming proficient with it is the key. So all that mess about being useless means nothing to me or anyone who knows what these weapons can do. Ya'll just gotta jump in and bash stuff when no one asked your opinion to start with as he was simply posting the weapon he put together. The OP knows what he has and will get the trigger time he needs to use it to it's maximum.

Pistol grip only wouldn't be my first choice for a defensive gun, but it's going to make sense to use in some circumstances as this thread shows.

It's about having the right tool for the job and knowing how to run that tool to it's full potential.

Just installed a Knoxx Breacher grip on my Remington 870. (I know Knoxx also makes a Breacher grip for the Mossberg).
This thing really works. We were shooting 00 buck, single handed, just like a pistol. Though it got heavy after awhile, but it tamed that recoil on the 870.

Why do people always think a PG shotgun is such a wildly uncontrollable weapon? Its a 12 gauge shotgun not a frickin cannon.
