I built a duty weapon for an LAPD officer. I went by the LAPD approved accessory list and on that list is Mesa Tactical Stocks. I even spoke with the Armory out there to make sure all was well and was told the Mesa LEO stock is approved. So the Officer gets the weapon and loves it. He Breaks it in and takes it to the Armory to be certified for duty and the Amorer tells him the Edine Buffer is not approved. The F'n LEO Stock is but not the Buffer. so the Officer can not use the weapon unless he changes to a standard tube on the Mesa Stock.
I call Dan at Mesa who at that very minute is in a meeting with LAPD. He returns my call after the meeting and I explain the problem. I was trying to get a standard tube for my client. Dan told me to give him the guys number and he will take care of it.
He did and they are sending this officer a standard tube for no cost to him or me. Mesa did not sell the stock to this man. I did on his AI&P Tactical III. Yet, the guys at Mesa stepped up and got involved to help this Officer get this weapon approved for duty.
That goes beyond customer service. That goes to believing in your product and taking care of the needs of the people that use them. LAPD will clear the Endine Buffer for duty use. However, They have a very in depth procedure for approving anything and it is in the process but takes time. So my client of course will hold on to the Endine buffer for the time when the process is completed and they are allowed to use them.
I am in no way bashing the LAPD policy. It is very necessary to appove any of these items. If not, then all kinds of mess will be out being used. I recommend such a process for any Agnecy. It only becomes a problem when the guys who are out there doing the job have no input. Let those guys have input and act on thier expiriences on the street and have a uniform consistant weapons policy and every one benifits.
