    Mossberg Security or Persuader?

What is the difference between the two. I saw one being sold at Big5 as a Mossberg Security but I didn't saw this model at Mossberg's site. Then, I was browsing and I saw Persuader model # 50577 which looks like the same as the first mentioned above.

    Would someone care to differentiate?

To be honest without looking at them I' am not sure bud. The first link is a wiki page on the Mossberg lots of info there. The 2nd link has pictures but I didn't see one that said security although the persuaders were there. I think both are model 500s as the 590s have 2 barrel supports or rings one towards the middle one at the end. Both the persuader and the security are 7+1s and 20 inches. Maybe they are the same thing.

My box was marked with the 50577 model number. Mossberg calls it the "Persuader". It has an 8 round capacity and comes with just a standard factory buttstock. There is also another "Persuader" that is a 20GA 6 shot and has a couple of cosmetic differences

There is another version the Big5 carries, that comes with a pistol grip buttstock as an option. I think this is the one they call "Security" I don't remember the capacity, but I want to say it was 6.

It does get a bit fuzzy, but the best resource I've found so far is the spec chart on the Mossberg site.

It's also apparent that on some items, Big5's marketing department may use different names for things.

Not sure..but I just bought the Big 5 tactical persuader.....was kinda dissappointed in the pastic trigger guard and lack of heat shield. I've seen other places sell the persuader for cheaper than I got mine, and it comes with heat shield and a 20 inch barrel...look around...dont go with the Big 5 "special"
This year will go down in history. For the first time, a civilised nation has full gun registration! Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future!...Adolf Hitler.....(and no I'm not a racist, but he was a smart man....crazy, but smart)

I just bought the 50577 which is the persuader model. I saw (at big 5) that they had what they labeled as a 590 "security" on the shelf next to it. This 590 came with a heat shield, a capacity of 8+1, and I think a bayonet lug. Is it possible you saw the 590 next to the 500. These two models were very similar looking when I checked them out at the store. For example: check out Mossberg model 50577 and 50645, you'll see what I mean.
