Sling Mount Options for a Remington 870 Express

The reason for a sling mount between the stock/receiver is simply platform comformity, same reason for adjustable stocks/pistol grips and ghost/rifle sights.
A simple 2 point sling is all that is needed, and doest add un needed length to the weaponyou don't rise to the occasion,
you just fall back on your level of training. -
Thanks. I don't fully copy all you said, but I thank you for your input..."There's no reason what so ever that a private citizen needs to own a firearm. Just ask the Armenians, Jews, Cambodians, Tutsis (Rwanda), Bosnian Muslims, etc."

single point slings allow you to literally "drop" the weapon and switch to a sidearm or hands free, allowing the weapon to be in front of you (rather than behind or to the side as in other sling types) for easy access if it's needed again, but also keeps it close your your body so that it can't be turned against you in a hands on fight. it also allows you to switch hands, useful in "urban" settings where you may be turning corners that aren't necessarily on your dominate side.
single point for tactical carry, standard shoulder sling for "casual" carry.Last edited by FatalKitty; 09-13-2010, 8:59 PM.you don't rise to the occasion,

Wow. Good info! I have a single point on my M4ery but hadn't really thought about one for my new 870.
So what are the thoughts on the various sling mount options?
I'm leaning towards a 2 point "casual carry" setup with the uncle mike's end cap swivel mount..."There's no reason what so ever that a private citizen needs to own a firearm. Just ask the Armenians, Jews, Cambodians, Tutsis (Rwanda), Bosnian Muslims, etc."

I use a vertical slotted sling bar up front that rides between the barrel and mag tube on my 870. Sling is two point with a cuff around the butt. I only put it on if I am going to be out and about or going to a training class. I set up this way mainly for easy on and off, it's my HD shotgun and I don't keep it with sling at home, and ability to casually carry over the shoulder.
On my AR, I use a single point. On my Mossberg 500ATP, it came with conventional sling swivels OEM from the factory so a two point ring sling that holds 25 extra shells is on that.

Excellent looking stuff at Rocky Mountain.
So next question: when you use something like the GG&G front sling mount

Does it move when you rack the slide? or is it locked into place somehow?
The idea of the front half of the sling moving doesn't seem to make sense, but I can't quite tell how this setup would work..."There's no reason what so ever that a private citizen needs to own a firearm. Just ask the Armenians, Jews, Cambodians, Tutsis (Rwanda), Bosnian Muslims, etc."

I bought this from strapworks.com. Works great but I rarely use it as my 870 is my HD gun.
Shop custom webbing, straps, buckles & tie-downs in hundreds of colors & widths. No minimum orders. American family-owned. Free shipping on orders over $100.
I did modify it to use the HK snaphooks instead (also from strapworks).Comment

Nate, the gg&g loop actually is locked in place by the mag cap (or extension depending on your setup), and is a very sturdy way to have a front loopyou don't rise to the occasion,
