    Light/Laser suggestions for 870?

I felt the need to augment my pistol with a home defense shotgun, so came back to Calguns to lurk. Been too busy with a terminally ill parent to devote time to shooting sports. So I grabbed a Big 5 ad, and man, I've been . Ammo $$ up, and B5 carries 'Cali' AK type featureless weapons. Turners carries OLLs. Rip Van Winkle.

Ok, so I fell in love with The Rem 870 Express Tactical; you know, the one with the rail and ghost ring. Bought it. However, being a 5' 1.5" woman, the LOP is too long. Ok, gonna get a 'Cadet' type stock, ended up ordering the SpecOps Recoil reducing stock and cheekpiece. So that is what I am working with.

While I wait to pick it up, I've been reading the weapon-light threads, and like the idea of the CDM mounts; they look simple and effective, both things I want on a home defense shotgun. I've been reading about lights/lasers; is the Streamlight TLR2 on a CDM BMT 3rail the way to go? I'm thinking it would do double duty being it is rail mounted, on my ARs. Suggestions? Been looking at them on Optics Planet website, I don't know them, are they a good place to order from? My only experiences with shotguns are for fun clay shooting (have a Beretta Urika, Rem 11 and Franchi OU, but this is a way different bird.) I admit I am a tactical shotgun newbie.

          light suggestions

Hello, I know you said ypu want a light/laser combo, but LA Police Gear has a great deal on the TLR1s and a deceant price on the TLR2. Personally I went w/the TRL1s on mine. I'm looking to get a couple more myself. When youadd the cost of adding the new back plate and the remote switch, any savings helps.

My extension came with an extra power spring and an S&J follower. Using these supplied parts my extension failed 100% of the time once installed. I polished the inside of my tube, trashed the "extra power spring" that is supplied by S&J, which is really just a longer mag spring and I trashed the S&J follower. I installed a WOLFF extra power spring and a Wilson/Scattergun tech follower. After making these adjustments to this $109 extension it finally functioned reliably 100% of the time. Had I not gotten that extension for free I would have been really pissed. While the extension looks good on the outside, the hassle of getting it to function in your gun, coupled with the outrageous price makes it a "pass" in my opinion. You are better off with a Wilson extension for $45.
Thanks for that advice. Aesthetically, it's a nice looking tube. I've had zero problems with my Remington factory +2 and +3 extensions over the years. I think I'll stick with those. If it ain't broke don't fix it. If I ever use a +1 I'll go Wilson.

what? If you dont know you dont know I happen to know I paid $330 zero tax and zero shipping also paid $180 for the M80 forend and $120 for the T107 rail mounted switch for my benelli M4.

Is the coil remote switch required to use the TLR-2 or TLR-1 well w/ an 870 and the CDM mount?

if surefire made a lighted fore end that didn't have any protrusions, I would get that in a heartbeat.

I would say no, just mount it back far enough so you can reach the switch, and not interfere with the action.
Those coils just get in the way.

I am an Authorized Surefire Professional Dealer and would not sell that model for that. I would also think this is over kill for an HD but people want what they want.

I can tell you to be aware when buying any of these high end weapons lights no matter what model or who makes them as there are counterfits out there and no I am not saying the one for $330 is. Retail on that light is $460 and Only an Authorized Surefire dealer could get them to start with so I am assuming it is legit. There are counterfits all over E-bay and other sites so be careful. Buying from an Authorized Surefire or Streamlight dealer is the way you protect yourself.

Another way to know is the person can not get these unless they are an Authorized Surefire dealer and that is not easy people. Surefire would only approve me as an OEM dealer and I could only sell weapons lights on my custom weapons. I could not sell a light by itself and I signed a "Limited Sales" agreement to that affect. After three years I asked them to upgrade me. See, if you do not have a store front you can not be a Surefire dealer and since I only have a custom shop and no store front, they would not, however, they did make me a Professional Dealer and I can sell to Departments, and LEO's. So if someone is selling Surfire products and does not have a store front, something is wrong. This will help you in your search for a light.

The TLR-1 is a great light, but that price is a little high. You can find the TLR-1S (strobe) if you shop around for under $100 or so.

Ya I kinda feel bad a bit. I went to Just Guns here in Sac to look for some more tactical parts for my 870 clone today. Looked at some handguns too but that's a different thread LOL. Anyways I asked about the TLR-1s and they run about 130 bucks or so. She asked me what I had seen em for or I probably wouldn't have said anything. How are the stores supposed to compete with e-tail prices? I would buy to support them but lol Come on now paying extra $$ for the cause just makes me poorer good Samaritan lol.
