Fiber optic & ghost ring sights for Mossberg.

Looking to put some fiber optic front and ghost ring rear sights on my Mossberg 500A. Where can I find some that I can install myself.

Its a house gun not a hunting gun not up on modding shotguns or tactical acc. for them so any help will be great. Thanks.

I've looked around and I could only find the OEM Ghost Ring sights that Mossberg offers. Unless you get creative, you just might have to find someone (if you can't yourself) to solder on the front sight post.

Since the front post uses a dovetail, look at what Vang Comp has going on for replacement front sights. Last I saw they offered tritium dots.

Have you looked at the Williams Firesights for your Mossberg?

I installed a set on my Rem 870.
A true Ghost ring may require gunsmith installation.

The Fire Sights are very bright, easy for the owner to install and the price is right !!

I shoot combat shotgun about every other month and find they work great.

Installing a new front sight on a Mossberg typically requires silver soldering it on and refinishing the barrel, which is not generally something you can do yourself. There are options where you can epoxy a front sight on but they're not really reliable enough for a defensive gun, you can expect that front sight to pop off at some point.

My only concern would be if the HS got banged or bent up. You're essentially screwed. With that being said if it's just a range gun it's more than likely not going to happen. Although you never know when you might drop it or might slip off a rack, etc. Ultimately the choice is up to you

Someone will correct me if I am wrong, but I thought newer Mossberg's were coming drilled and tapped from the factory for a ghost ring?

If the receiver is drilled and tapped, then a ghost ring is easy and Mossberg's factory kit is plenty adequate, IMO. Likewise you could mount Mesa's Picatinny rail on the receiver and your options for aftermarket ghost rings and/or optics get a lot broader.

The front sight.... unless it's already in a dovetail, you're looking at a trip to the gunsmith to have the bead properly removed and a front post sweated on.

Genuine mawssberg sights are pretty decent, but for HD, I see no point. I mean just point-and-shoot type of deal seems to be more than sufficient. If you use 12ga slugs for HD, then it would be helpful, but I would be more worried about getting a recoil reducing stock

Aren't there clamp on front sights? Just get the ghost rear and a fiber optic front.

There are, but I think they're for ribbed barrels only
