    Mossy Sticky?

Would it be possible to start a sticky thread on different shottys....my recommendation for the first would be Mossberg 500's? Just picked one up, and I know alot of people have them....just would like to hear what other people are doing with theirs.
This year will go down in history. For the first time, a civilised nation has full gun registration! Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future!...Adolf Hitler.....(and no I'm not a racist, but he was a smart man....crazy, but smart)

I've got a 500ATP that's like new and it serves as my main HD protection. No pics, as I haven't gotten around to it and my camera battery is bad. It's bone stock as I removed the sling and slip on recoil pad it came with (was a former LEO gun back in the day). I'll be adding a better recoil pad and a light clamp for one of my surefires and possibly a fiber optic front sight. Other than that, I prefer my shotguns stock.

I don't agree with the sticky idea because if we did that for Mossbergs, we'd have to do it to everything else and it would make the entire site more cluttered. Hope you enjoy your new shotgun.

I also have a 500ATP that is still in darned good shape for being well past old enough to buy beer in a bar. Smooth as soft butter with that satisfying Mossberg "clack clack", and it shoots and handles like a dream. The butt pad is starting to get a little stiff so I am thinking I might change that out one of these days, but no rush as it's still serviceable.

My 500 is 100% stock, except for the sling. I had a sidesaddle on it for a while but took it off in favor of a sling that carries 25 shells. I've seen reports of the pins on a sidesaddle being tough on the holes of the aluminum receiver. Still have the sidesaddle in my box o'stuff, just don't use it.

It usually wears the 18.5 inch, plain bead barrel it shipped with. I also have a 24 inch, ported, vent rib with Accu Choke barrel for hunting, clays and just general field use.

I have a mossberg 590A1 and IMHO it is the best pump shotgun ever made very reliable and very effective after alll if its good enough for the military its good enough for me. Its also my everyday carry piece I am a sheriffs deputy and the 590A1 is sittin pretty next to me everyday along with my Smith n Wesson M&P AR. Mossberg has been makin shotguns for quite some time so they do know what they are doing, id recommend the 500 and especially the 590 series to any1, not to mention the stock features that can come with it are simply badass!

Hmmm... not sure about doing a sticky for each brand...
but maybe a sticky (or subforum) for "Shotgun Discussions - Hunting"
and another for "Shotgun Discussions - Tactical / HD"?
Or something to that effect, anyway?

Trap & skeet could go under the "Hunting" category and flashlight mounts could go under "Tactical" for instance.

A sticky for tac/hd oriented scatterguns would be nice
you don't rise to the occasion,
you just fall back on your level of training.

A whole world of shotgun fun and information and were stuck in a little corner.

shotgunworld's basement is OK, but it'd be nice to have other california folks to talk about LEGAL HD configurations and tactics.

Congrats... think you'll be very happy. Especially when you're breaking it in.

I don't see enough traffic here that it would make sense to have any more subforums. Also, trap and skeet have very little to do with hunting.

Yeah... That was an example of a comparative suggestion, not an instruction. I wasn't clear, I guess.

Trap shooting was a result of pheasant & grouse hunters, wishing to practice & hone their shooting skills, while they weren't hunting. They used to use live birds, which obviously has it's own set of difficulties. The first glass ball flying targets appeared around 1866 and the first clay pigeons, somewhere around 1880. Obviously, breaking clay is more desirable than breaking glass, for a few reasons.
