Why didn't you state the rifled barrels were designed for shotgun slugs and accuracy, where smooth bore barrels were designed for shot?

Because that is sort of technically incorrect.

Foster, Brenneke & Buckhammer slugs are all designed to be fired from smooth bores. Smooth bores were never really "designed" with shot in mind ... it's just a historical artifact owing to the history of muskets, muzzleloaders, etc.

Sabots - as mentioned in my video - are designed for use in rifled barrels. Using traditional "slugs" in a rifled barrel provides no advantage. In some cases, rifled slugs actually have a twist opposite that of the barrel rifling, which would obviate the whole principle.

Other than that, I did mention that rifled barrels provide for greater accuracy with sabot rounds, and that shot does not work well with rifled barrels.

If you have some source showing this to be inaccurate, I am open to instruction.

That is true, but rifles barrels were not designed for shot. You could simply add, some manufactures make slugs for smooth bore, for shooters who want to fire slugs, and shot.

As to smooth bores, once rifling and bullets specific to rifles were made (mini ball), the only market for smooth bore was the shot gun.
