Need help with my saiga 12

I am looking at bringing my saiga 12 to CA from Wa in the next few days. It has been converted over already with a pistol grip. The bullet button I bought is not working. I want to bring the gun to CA and get the bullet button installed. What is the best way to bring it in and have a store install a new bullet button. How far do I need to strip it down to be legal?

Just remove the pistol grip and you should be fine. Is the grip one of your 922(r) parts?

I am a member of the human race. All relevant information is to be found in my passport. And except when there is good reason for suspecting me of some crime, I will refuse to submit to police interrogation, on the grounds that any such interrogation is an intolerable nuisance. And life being as short as it is, a waste of time. Any infringement on my privacy, or interference with my liberty, any assault, however petty, against my dignity as a human being, will be rigorously prosecuted-Orson W.

No. With the pistol grip removed its still a semi auto that can accept detachable mags as the OP described it.

Install a working BB before you come, thats the simplest route. If for some reason you can't, field strip the gun. (dust cover, op rod & spring, bolt carrier group, forward gas tube) and bring it in as a jumble of parts. Before you put it back together, install the BB. Your S12 doesn't have a folding or collapsing stock now does it? If it does you need to lose it or pin it if you want to retain your grip.

Order one of the clamp on mag catch covers and you should be ok. just make sure you dont have a folding/collapsible stock.

          FAIL!!!

          Don't do this^^^^^^^^

The easiest way to bring that gun into CA, first off do you have a picture of the conversion? Some do it differently then others and the trigger guard may determine what type of mag lock will work.
If you don't have time you can throw a cable lock through the action and that will deactivate that shotgun and make it impossible to be a detachable mag semiauto shotgun. If you can't load a mag then that gun won't work.
