    military shotguns

Just got the new issue of American Rifleman today and on page three theres an ad for Benelli's M4 Tactical semi-auto. It says that its used by US Marines in iraq and Afganistan. I always thought the military used the Mossberg 500/590 pumps. Does anyone know if these are replacing the 500's or are these just another weapon used now by some special forces?
Not trying to start any arguments, just curious how my tax dollars are being spent to grease bad guys.
I own a Mossberg 500 MILS and really like it. Maybe I'll look into adding an M4 and start a military SG collection!

There are some Benelli M4's out there. They are used. My son was teased with training on one but.........................didn't happen........now he's in Okinawa.......no correlation.....it's getting late................

The USMC Benelli is listed as the M1014

the military fields damn near every kind of shotgun you can imagine. mossberg 500/590s are the go-to but they've also used remingtons, winchesters, benellis, berettas and god knows what else. basically a matter of what they can get their hands on sometimes. lot more using m14/m1a now in lieu of AR's too. can't hardly blame them for that.

Benelli has a contract for a gas-operated semi-auto shotgun for the US military.

Mossberg and Remington have contracts for pump-action shotguns for the US military.

C-More Systems has a contact for a straight-pull bolt-action shotgun for the US Army.
