Gotta question about mossberg 930 spx

I'm planning on investing in a good shotgun, but living in California most things are felonies or banned. What I want to know is if the mossberg 930 spx semi- auto is on the ban- list? If not what's your comment or experience with this awesome piece of steel. And is there something similiar too this that's round same price and style?

I ordered my 930 SPX in February 2009 when the post election buying frenzy was in full swing. The dealer said Mossberg had close to a 180,000 backlog and was working 3 shifts pushing out products to meet the demand. After a 10 week wait I was able to pick mine up, but immediately sent it back for a couple of workmanship issues. The front sight was canted over to the left, and the magazine extension tube was slightly out of round which caused the shell to hang up whenever I loaded more than 4 shell in the magazine, and the forearm had quite a bit of wobble in it. It took another 6 weeks before Mossberg returned it. While their customer service was great, I was disappointed with the initial out of box quality, it appears the problems I had was fairly common with the Mossberg 930 during that time frame. Mossberg replaced the front sight with a new assembly, replaced the extension tube and follower, and replaced the forearm, which took care of all my complaints about it. They also paid for shipping both ways.
Since then I've put about 800 rounds through it, mostly WalMart bulk Federal birdshot along with buckshot and slugs. The action slows down noticeably after about 200 rounds, a quick shot of CLP and a fast wipe down keeps it going, so far I haven't had any stoppages or malfunctions with it. It patterns a bit looser than my Remington 870 police, but has less felt recoil. Overall it's a decent gun for the money, once the warranty work was done.

I bought one about 6 months back, and I haven't had anything but flawless performance from mine. The sights are awesome. *Using slugs, I can tag the 100 yrd sillouettes from the standing position consistantly, and pretty much can't miss while shooting skeet - and I'm a total noobie at skeet. It cycles smoothly, looks cool, and all my buddies who've shot it, now have one on their shopping lists.

I've heard bad things about the 930 - FTE, shipped with canted sites, etc. On the other hand, good luck finding a semi-auto that's even remotely decent at a competitive price.

I am not speaking from experience though, merely hearsay from various gun forums. I only bring it up so that you can walk into your purchase with both eyes open.

Dont mean to thread jack but for you guys who have a 930spx, did your mag tube under the gas system get really chewed up after a lot of shooting? Or did I mess something up?
