    Trap gun- Mossberg Silver Reserve?

I would like to try shooting Trap bot don't want to spend $2,000 on a Browning. I noticed the Mossberg Silver Reserve and when I put up to my shoulder it felt pretty good. It seems to be a real nice gun, I just can't figure out why it only costs $500 compared to the more expensive O/U.

Any owners out there who will comments on:
    a) How tight are the patterns shot by the Mossberg?
    b) How is the reliability.
    c) other comments?

    Thanks for your assistance.

I jsut purchased one about 10-12 months ago. Depending on what ammo you use the pattern will be different. I use Remington 8 shot sometimes 7 1/2. pattern is pretty tight to about 25-30 yards. then it starts to spread out to about 5-7 feet wide.. i shot at a dirt hill to check the pattern at different distances. The nice thing is you can get different chokes and you can mix and match. I jsut use the open choke it came with but my buddy has a different choke and his shoots even tighter. I like the gun. the fit and finish is great. Feels better then the Remington that i was looking at. The remington felt loose at the hinge IMO. the Mossberg had a stiff hinge but that loosened with time just enough. I also like the fact that you can switch the firing order from the upper barrel to the lower barrel and vice versa i also like. Not sure if all OU do that but I assume they do. The gun feels a lot more solid than my pump shotguns. Also I got mine for 360$ brand new so look around and wait for the sales at big 5 thats where I got it. I did have a few double fire but that was partly due to me basically bump firing it by accident by not having a good grip on the stock. One other time I had a few failiure to fire but that was IMO the primer in the shell cause the firing pin made contact. I was using some ammo my buddy had. Not sure what it was but I went back to either Remington or winchester and havent had any problems
if youre in So cal and want to go to a shooting range i can bring it to try it out before you buy. I usually go either to norco or Burro canyon

Thank you, but I went to my local Big 5 and they had the Silver Rserve O/U on sale for $449. I looked closely at it and decided that it wasn't what I really wanted.

Thanks for your offer of assistance
