Looking at getting a Charles Daly OU

Ive been wanting to get a cheeper OU shotgun and am interested in the Charles Dalys. Does anyone on here know much about them? Which models, options, and are the better ones. Or if there is a better gun for around the same price, Im looking at around $800. Thanks for the help.

If you are looking at Charles Daly you should understand that the company's corporate parent went bankrupt earlier this year so warranty support could be non-existent if you should have a problem.

If it's an older Daly, it may well have been made by Miroku in Japan, which has been making Brownings for many years. The Mirokus will tend to be very good guns, solid and well made. The newer Turkish made Daly o/u I have no experience with. The Turkish made pumps and semi autos from Daly in recent years were fairly good. I know guys with both and they like them.

I bought a Baikal made Remington SPR 310 import o/u dirt cheap (think $350 out the door on what had been an $800 + SRP) on a close out a while back. My intention was that it would be a starter o/u until I was ready to look for a Browning or Beretta, but it has surprised me with how well it has performed. Remington discontinued importing the Spartan line and they are getting harder to find but there may still be inventory out there, and I see them showing up on Gunbroker from time to time.

The Mossberg Silver Reserve guns are in the bargain price range, but the quality on those has run the gamut. I've read some horror stories on other boards.

There is no way around it. You get what you pay for.

The shotgun you choose should be the one that feels and fits good for you. Then save for that gun. If you don't know which one you like, which one you shoot well for your skill level, which model actully fits you, then your purchase is premature

You will end up spending 1500 on three guns and finaly buy the one you should have in the first place.

As BigDog said. KBI / Charles Daly closed their doors in January this year, and currently there is no arrangements in place (if ever) to handle warranty and repairs. I own a couple of CD shotguns and like them, but even I would recommend you don't buy one, since you will be buying a gun with no warranty or parts support (unless you are prepared to order parts directly from the factory, Akkar in Istanbul, Turkey, which is what some CD owners have had to do).

Would you be interested in a slightly used CZ O/U 20 ga w/ all original accessories, box, docs for $600. Gun located in San Jose area. These usually go for $700-$800 new and they have very good reviews.

Thanks for the advice guys. I didnt know they had closed their doors. That is something that might change my mind on them.
