    Shotgun for 3-gun competitions

I am new to competitive shooting and recently looked into the 3-gun comps. I already have my glock 22, and my Colt gas piston AR. Which shotgun would you guys recommend? I'm looking for quality but also user friendly.

What would you recommend if money was not an issue?

          Budget 3 gun SG

The SLP has been mentioned, great gun, but it's $800 to $1K. Benelli Super 90's A1 or 2's (used). Still up there in price. Dropping down some is the Berettas. The Extrema line is catching on but it's pricey, they have their SP line that are much like the Benelli Super 90's only issue is capacity (one less).

Now for the truly budget minded, entry level semi-auto 3 gunner, condsider the Mossberg 930 SPX. It's a 7+1 gas operated, GR sighted SG. Costs, about $550 to $600. Mine has replaced my Benelli S-90A1. BTW the front sight is fiber optic and adjustable. Has a rail for mounting optics if you wish to change classifications.

If you are really straped for cash, get a pump gun. Mossberg and Remington both offer "tactical" models. Mossberg has 8+1 models and the Remington has a 8+1 models. There are "offshore manufactured" guns that are flooding the market and you buy those at your own peril. Some folks like'm and swear that they are as good as any gun produced in the US. I'm not sold on the idea.

Agreed on the Mossberg 930. Mine is a 24" ribbed barrel "hunting" model that is cut down to 21" with a 7 round DMW mag extension. Ghost sights can be a PITA for fast shooting with a shotgun - most of the serious guys like a rib with a fiber front sight.

I ran 200 rounds of cheap walmart ammo threw mine yesterday and it ran flawless - not one issue.

Benelli is the best and considered the most reliable. The serious guys nearly all run Benelli now.

I would suggest a field type shotgun. The ghost rings are cool but typically get in the way. I run a benelli which I thoroughly enjoy but first off, whats your buget? I am assuming that you want a semi...

I posted something about this but don't see my thread anymore. anyway, I just had my hands on a Mossberg 930 SPX today and it seems like a sweet little shotgun for the price. $599 at my local shop. The sights seem to be a great alternate to the fancy red dot optical, and no batteries to worry about. I'm a total novice, but I am considering this one for 3 gun as well, and USPSA steel.

I found an older model HK M1 Super90. It is an original military model from germany owned by a former SF guy n gun dealer. I paid $600.
