I would say yes. They need to be equipped with a mag lock to be CA compliant.

Some items to keep in mind:
            1) Unlike with ARs and AKs which can be brought in "featureless", the Saiga must be imported into CA w/ the maglock on it.
            2) If you are going to relocate the trigger and add a pistol grip, you need to be aware of 922r (aka: 10 foreign parts or less on a non-sporting gun).
            3) Moving the trigger may require you to buy a new maglock.
            4) There are also some folks who feel that using a 10rd mag makes a gun "non-sporting" which will also 922r
            5) If you start modifying the gun further, read the CA AW laws closely as they are different for shotguns vs. rifles. You can have a pistol grip + VFG but you cannot have a collapsable stock, pistol grip, and VFG.

Check out Peachstateguns.com they make one specifically for cali. Im about to buy one actually. There not the only ones either a few places will ship them with a maglock. Do you want one with the FCG moved forward and a pistol grip or keeping the rifle style stock? Saiga12.com has some good info on conversions and what can be done to accessorize.

Yes, if you purchase it from a legal gun shop(in CA)....they would have made the legal upgrades(I know my local saiga supplier has). If you are trying to import one yourself, as I understand it, 10rounds is max.(period), bullet button is a must! Because it is a shotgun that has removable mags, those are as I have been informed....mandantory! Others with more knowlege may chime in differently.

As to your question, that particular rifle is legal in CA with the right castration!
I own a saiga 7.62x39 without problem and I have not gone the route of modifying the "sporting" stock....nor do I feel the need to. The shotty however I believe makes no differance if it has the "sporting" stock or pistol grip in CA!

That is how I was informed ....may be wrong..........others will follow!

PRK Arms in the Fresno-area sells them with bullet button installed already

                  >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
OEM Saiga12 Shotguns, Bullet button equipped, in stock and ready to ship $799
Economies of scale work great for everyone!

We are currently putting the finishing touches on our new shop, dotting the i's our paperwork and getting everything ready to really shake things up here in CA...

Because we've scaled up our infrastructure and increased the size of our business, we're now able to offer S12 shotguns in OEM configuration for the price of $799 (+tax and shipping)

                  And it gets better!!!

                  For our previous customers;

if you purchased an unconverted S12 from us and paid a higher price, we will credit you $100 towards the conversion of that shotgun, and (as we're quite proud to state) PRKarms S12 AK conversions are simply the best available.

I believe you can have a sporting stock and a pistol grip, but you cannot have a pistol grip AND a collapsable or telescoping stock. But I did always wonder if you could have a pistol grip, VFG and no stock?? something to think about.

yes, as long as it is still 26"OAL. Run it through the shotgun flowchart to see how the laws interact.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

I will check with our list of counties in CA that these are NOT allowed in. A LEO passed along 3 or 4 that the bullet button is not legal in a ways back, but I cant remember for the life of me what they are....

and now for a shameless plug with CA non-civilian legal saiga 12s....

select fire 12 - duty use, all metal save the grip and magazine.

AOW 12 (these are legal with BB and SLED)

                          SBS-12 the "CHAOS Cutie"

BAH ok, heres one of our 24" CA conversions too.....yes, if legal in your county, we do these too, not just NFA items...I think this exact gun as shown (without the 12 round magazine, and a ten rounder, of course) is about 1200...

yes, I like to tease you CA guys a little bit....hey, you can have a couple of those, who am I kidding??

You guys do some nice work. I've checked you guys out on the Saiga12 forum as well. I hadn't heard that some counties aren't cool with the BB thats something to look into. So the last picture (the Cali conversion) what all has been done to the gun other than the pistol grip conversion and the mag lock added?
