    Escort semi-auto shotguns

My buddy is looking to purchase a semi-auto shotgun but has a tight budget. A local gun shop has a nice tactical semi-auto Escort for something like $350 to $400. He asked me if they were any good but I have no idea, I've never shot one.

Anyone have any experience with these? Are they decent quality?

you can buy a good used remington or baretta used for that much and they are far superior in quality

The reviews I have read on the Escort seem to be positive.

I would recommend a Stoeger M2000. It is what I consider the best entry level semi-auto available and they are using the same Inertia Driven action as the $1200+ Benelli for a fraction of the cost. Gunbroker.com has them for between $365 - $499 + shipping which runs between $30-45 and whatever your local FFL DROS charge would be. No taxes are collected for out of state purchases too.

I'll leave a couple of example links for you

      STOEGER 2000 26"BBL 12GA 3" SEMI AUTO - $363.95

      New Stoeger Model 2000 M2000 Semi-Auto 26" - $425

      Stoeger Model 2000 18.5" 12GA Tactical - $380

The Stoeger Model 2000 semi-auto shotgun is the most reliable semi-auto in its price range.

I have many thousands of rounds through mine. Zero issues with it.

You can get a benelli from big 5 right now for 369 with the 50$ rebate. and it will fire chamber 2 3/4 3 and 3 1/2 shells.

I just picked one of these up (MP-A) and will be test firing it tonight at WEST END GC. Let you know how it shoots. The fit and finish I would rate an 8 out of 10 when compared to a Benelli M3 or M4, but heck you pay a third for the Escort. Out the door mine ran just over $500. I bought it as a beater/loaner I'm getting tired of loaning out $1500+ shotguns to friends just to have them not take care when handling them.

I'll post some pictures if I have a chance to take some tonight.

              That is a pump, not a semi-auto

Well just got back from a short test firing about 75-80 rds total. 50 rds of misc.target loads and 29 tactical loads -(15) Fed. HH/LE132, (8) Rem.reduced recoil slugs and (6) Fed. mag. slugs.

So far the gun ran very well, on par with my Benelli's and Remingtons. My only complaint at this time is that the rear sights were not zeroed(?) at the factory (unlike Benelli and Remington which came able to at least print on a target at 25 yards with slugs). I will need to zero the sights at my next outing.

To those how may ask, Yes, you can empty the gun (6rds) before the first round hits the ground just like the Benelli and other high end semi autos. Not that this has any real use.

The first photo shows me in the process of doing so. I've already fired 3 round and number four is being feed.

The second photo was of my shot groups at about 100 yards +- a few feet with the sight as them came from the factory. Group is a mix of mag. and reduced recoil slugs and took a bit of Kentucky windage to get on target. Also they were fired from an unsupported position.

This was only a function check outing and I by no means am ready to say ya or nay to this shotgun. Keep in mine it's only a $500 gun and looks like it will fill the roll I have for it well.

350 to $400 is TOO MUCH for an Escort shotgun

Where can you find them new for less?
