    Benelli M1, M2, M3 or M4?

OK, may pick up a Benelli for combat shooting and fun. I have pumps for self defense, but as you know, you never know what gun you'll use so that's always in mind.

But this is mostly for fun shooting. Any opinions on which to get? The M3 is interesting but not really "necessary" -- but who knows how long we'll be able to buy it, or any other semi-auto in CA so it's set up is interesting to me.

Also, any of you prefer rifle or ghost sights on these?

      Fn

Is the FN okay in CA? Is it gas system or recoil (like a Benelli M1)? I'm still thinking I may stick with a recoil operated system since it's unique to Benelli.

        I'm a big fan of Benelli's

But for a fun gun I wouldn't get the M3 I've shot them they're confused and heavy.

Having two operating systems on a gun Why? So you can shoot less lethel and full loads. Not for me all I need is to put in the wrong shell and be in for a world of hurt.

The M4 good gun but it feels heavyer than the M2, and it doesn't come with screw in chokes. That leaves it out for me as a game gun, however you could change loads to compensate for no chokes. Otherwise all of them I've seen run great.

The M2 would be my choice light, fast reliable. It has all the latest stuff from Benelli. Cryo barrel and chokes, and their Nucular recoil reducing stock. It's light and has great ergos.

        Good luck
I move slow but I make up for it by shooting poorly.

When I hit the lotto I'm only shooting factory.

My Benelli M1Super90s with Limbsaver recoil pads has been 100 percent reliable since day one. Any Benelli is a good shotgun!

            Limbsaver vs Comfortech stock?

How much does the Limbsaver help in recoil compared to the Comfortech stock?

I love my M2. Feels very balanced, has been 100% reliable and its easy to clean/maintain. I was considering the SLP as well, but in the end it came down to which one that particular shop had in stock at the time. They just happened to have an M2 so I picked that.

If you've got the money the M4 is the best choice.

                  Hi capitol,
Why are you sold on the M4? Do you prefer the gas vs recoil system? Thanks for your input!

I would go with gas because if this is a tactical shotgun you will probably be shooting it in weird position from cover etc.

So a gas system will always cycle. You don't want a inertia system to quite working if your leaning out from cover and having to shoot upside down or something.

Yeah I sound paranoid but, I want my gun to function all the time. That said, a pump action has less things to go wrong.

My M1 Super 90 is a blast! It's the only Benelli I've shot, and I love it!

Is the gas system more reliable than the recoil system? I've always heard that a gas recoil system was at times problematic.

Recoil SG with no accessories is reliable...
if you are gonna stick a light/extra rounds etc. on it... go Gas.
Gas is very reliable as well.

-M1 Fantastic, and lately very decent prices..
-M2 upgraded for field use, but tactical has little to no benifit over the M1 except it fetches a higher price.
-M3 is a complicated M1/M2 with no advantage unless you shoot irregular stuff (bean bag/gas etc) and this comes from one who would use the 870P before any other SG

Love my Benelli and Beretta 1201fp (both recoil guns) but hardly shoot them as the kick is prohibitive.
Love the FNSLP but sold it as i prefer my 11-87P (this is a controversial decision, but i am very used to the remington platform/ergonomics).
11-87p is fantastic, but heavy for some, and the loading/feed ramp is awkward for some.

870P is the King of SG's imo.

                            Not a single regret!

Doesn't the M2 have the ComfoTech stock? Doesn't that help recoil over the M1?

I have pumps (an 870 and a Winchester M12 with 20' barrel). I was just looking for a semi-auto for something different and fun. Plus, all the talk of possible ban of semi-autos have me thinking I might as well get one now.
