moss 500 problem

hi i recently just cleaned my mossberg 500 persuader and now when i go to load the ammo in the tube it seems to jam up after only 5 rounds, usually it holds 7 so i look and i think the little lead on the end of the spring keeps getting jammed up inside the tube.... any thoughts or ideas ?? thanks

What size shells are you putting in there? 3 inch shells will lower the total round count that the tube can hold. When Mossberg says it has a 7 round capacity they mean for 2 3/4 inch shells. But if it is the spring cap i would just lightly put some lube inside of the tube and see if that fixes it.

Sounds like it's time to go through the pain of removing that mag tube for inspection and cleaning. Or cleaning and inspection. ;-)

The only way I've been able to remove the 500's mag tube the first time without screwing it up is by clamping it in a barrel vise. Or make a barrel vise out of 2x4s. Don't twist by the shoulder stock... it'll break, quite possibly.
