    Good rifle sights for shotgun

I've got a Winchester 1300. Came with a Tru-Glo snap on over the front brass bead. No rear sights. I'm starting to shoot 3-gun and do okay with bird shot on plates but having problems with slugs at distance (20 yards+).

The receiver needs to be drilled and tapped for rear sight base. Most sight sets I found online refer to replacement of factory front base which mine doesn't have.

Can someone steer me in the right direction. Ideally I'm looking for ghost ring rear and blade or hooded blade front.

If this is going to be a dedicated 3 gun shotgun. I would not use a ghost ring set up. Twenty yards is not that far. Most of your shots are going to be birdshot at fairly close distances and the GRS will just slow you down. Maybe a little more practice with the slugs and use slugs that perform the best in your shotgun.

I have the factory barrel mounted rifle sights on my 870P and I'm dead on until about 75 yards with them.

Although I am not an active 3 gun competitor I have to agree with prc77 on point. With a bit of practice, mainly around figuring out where the gun shoots, a reasonably good shooter should be able to lay slugs into the scoring rings at 20 yards over a bead sight pretty consistently.

That said... if I was going to go with sights I'd likely buy a rifle sighted barrel and call it good. I'm not a big fan of GRS on shotguns.

I've tried ghost sights. I've tried Remington rifle sights. Both are extremely slow and innacurate for me compared to a bead. It's a difficult concept to accept, given how cool ghost sights look and how popular they are...but the best sight out there for a shotgun is a simple bead sight.

Of the three, the absolute most dreaful God awful things I've ever tried to use on any gun I've ever fired and hated them so much I wanted to drop trow and piss on them were the Remington rifle sights the guys above me said they liked. Go figure!

Shotguns for shot distances do not use rifle sights.
