    Benelli M1014 Shotgun

I'm new around this forum, and I wanted to know, is the M1014 Shotgun legal here in California? I've always dreamed of owning one...

Yes, as long as it doesn't have the collapsible stock. I enjoy mine quite a bit.

Good luck on your mission finding one, and welcome to the site.

Khanifornia says you can't have it.
      Why, you ask?
      "Because you want it"

As the poster above me said you should have no problem when you go out and buy your shotgun as long as it comes with a fixed stock.

Or you could listen to the poster above me and go out and buy your perfectly legal shotgun with a fixed stock.
The M1014 came in both configurations, skeletonized stock and the standard Benelli Pistol Grip Stock. I have the standard version. Questions/concerns were raised in California about the Skeletonized fixed stock because it still compressesed a little bit and did collapse something like 1/8 of an inch, so in CA that could still be called collapsible.

As they were delivered into the country there are no 922r problems. That's only if you modify them after they have been imported.

The M4 is perfectly legal in Ca. I just got mine two weeks ago. Current configuration comes with a fixed pistol grip. The adjustable stock will likely set you back $500 - $700 as an after market item and you would need to look into the legalities of it. You can search for the shotgun flowchart here and that should answer your legal questions.

922R only comes into play if you want to add a full length mag tube to increase the capacity. Apparently imported semi auto shotguns are limited to a 5 shell capacity. However it's legal to increase the capacity if you get the number of imported components on the shotgun down to 10 or less. Yes...weird law. To achieve this, most folks are swapping out the mag tube, follower and front end grip for US made parts.

Lastly, now is a really good time to buy a Benelli because they are offering a $200 mail in rebate on the Benelli website. And at the going rate of $1600 (give or take) every little bit of savings helps.

The forum on the benelli site is probably one of the best sources for info on 922R and any other questions you might have.

Oh...and they're a whole lot of fun. If you have the means, I HIGHLY recommend it!

            Peace

If you can find a 1014, the non-adjustable adjustable stock can be pinned pretty easily. Doing this also lets you reduce the excessive length of pull.

Yep. Just one thing in particular with the M1014 vs the M4, the M1014 has a fixed heavy barrel that was issued to the .mil, the M4s have chokes. As said above, the benelli forums or Google will give the other details.

Here's the etched flag on mine:
