hi guys. i was wondering if i could get some help from maybe some of the older members here.
my dad bought a mossberg 500 in the 90's (due to the riots going on and such) well, a few years ago his shotgun was ceased and has been sitting in police impound waiting to get picked up.
tomorrow he plans to go pick it up. but when he talked to the police, he said they said "we can't find the serial number" on the shotgun. i know the older model 500's probably just have them in a different spot or maybe they are omitted entirely. im not sure because my mossbergs are all new, and all have serials on the side of the receiver.
anyone know where it might be? inside of the receiver, maybe on the bolt? or if its gone (NSN), how exactly he is going to prove ownership once he gets to the property room? gun was bought legit from B&B years ago. paperwork and receipt still here, just cant find serial on the gun.
