mag spring retainer on 590a1

so is there a special way to remove the magazine spring retainer on the 590a1? i'm trying to change out the spring follower, but can't seem to get the retainer out (see pic). the manual says to pry it up without bending it, but all i seem to do is bend it and not move it. any help? what should i use to pry it out without bending it too much?

I've used a screwdriver to pry it out of the tube. Didn't have much luck not bending it but it went back in just fine. Keep at it it will come.

that did the trick, thanks. came out a little bent, but was able to bend it back and get it back in the gun.
