    Shotgun recommendations?

There are two things I use shotguns for. Shooting clays and hunting. Currently I use two differnt shotguns, one for hunting (Ithaca M37) and one for clays (Remington SBS). I want to go to just one gun I can use for both. It's got to have wood furniture (not going for tacticool), 20 gauge only, ok to shoot steel shot, pump action and very well made. The Remington 870 and Mossbergs don't really do it for me.

So far the best candidate I can find is the Browning BPS.

    Any other recommendations?

stop letting a gun beat you in the name of dependablity. pumps are entry level.

move up to the autos. there are a number of good ones out there from reasonable to ridiculus.

rem 1100, beratta 391, bennelli, etc. don't let "older' bother you. some models are better than others.

all of these were $600 new which makes them $300 now. look around. most shotguns are hardly ever used.

If it's got to be a pump, the BPS is a pretty good one. Since you have an SBS already I am guessing a O/U won't float your boat, but if it did a Ruger Red Label in 20 would be a great potential.

I would, as above, also consider an auto, particularly if you need more than two rounds in a hunting situation. 1100, 11-87 and Bennelli top the list in my mind. I have an 1100 and it is a downright pleasure to shoot.

You might, if you are fully committed to a pump, shop around a bit and see if you can scare up an older 870 Wingmaster... not the newer guns which don't have the same level of fit and finish. You'll find an older Wingmaster to be butter smooth, generally speaking and current aftermarket barrels will fit without so much as a sniff. Also, if you can find one, an older Winchester Model 12 would be a dream and put most anything made today to shame.
