Yesterday At Triple B Clays: WE HAD FUN !!!

Yesterday we had another "get acquainted with sporting clays" day at TBC.

Last week we had three shooters from Cal Guns, yesterday we had six!!

We all hit some of them, we all missed some of them, WE ALL HAD FUN !! If any of you guys want to get together and break some clays, let me know and we'll do it.

I'll be out of town next weekend, and TBC has a BIG two-day event the first weekend in May, but after that I'm wide open.

    Maybe May 8th?

p.s. I'm bad with names but if you were there yesterday, post your thoughts.

Yesterday was a BLAST. Going to TBC and learning the ropes in a friendly environment with Brad is definitely the way to go. It truly is like golf with a shotgun...translation; if you like golf (hanging out for a day with a couple/few of your buds in a park like environment and shooting the breeze) then you'll like sporting clays.

I am hooked. Thanks again Brad! Roman

This is Steve, the 20" 590.

I too had a blast! I felt a little awkward when glancing at the gun rack, since everyone else had nice wood furniture and 26+ barrels, with my ghetto looking Mossberg thrown in there! The only pump action in the group of 7 or so SGs. Honestly, as I was driving up I5, I was thinking "****, this is a bad idea... I'm not going to hit a thing and I'll be the poster child for why they don't want people with shorter SG's on the range..." A lot of that anxiety disappeared when I hit the first clay of the day!

I haven't tried trap or skeet, don't know what that is like. From what I can see, it looks like a much simpler game. If sporting clays is like golf, then I'd consider trap and skeet to be like a driving range or practice putting green. They could be used to sharpen your skills for sporting clays, I suppose.

Saturdays in general are bad for me. I can make most Sundays if that works for others, or later in the afternoon on a Saturday (after 2pm). So yeah, May 8th after 2pm, or the 9th anytime is fine for me.

Brad is single-handedly converting all CGers to sporting clays. If this keeps up, I think a bunch of us will be clamoring for more ranges in the SoCal area! Seriously, thanks for doing this, I really appreciate it!

Skeet is not as easy as you think, come out to TBC on SUNDAY some time and we can show you, we are there on field 15 all day. Ken

I had a great time. Thanks Brad for setting this up. It was good to meet all of you and great to see how to go about shooting sporting clays at a place like Triple B.

I have a strange schedule as well, but let me know when you go and I'll come if I can make it. Right now, Sundays are better for me as well, but that will change in a few months.

          Keep in touch!

          Chuck

I didn't say it was easy...

Just saying that it seems more repetitive. Actually, blame Brad for any ill opinions I've developed about skeet.
I'm still (sort of) young and impressionable.

I'd love to try skeet sometime as well. I think I'll need to plan a full day to try out trap, skeet, and more sport. This Sunday isn't good since I'm out of town, otherwise I'd be happy to give this a shot as well!

Yesterday at Triple B Clays was a great learning experience! Learned the basic fundamentals of Trap, Skeet and Sport Clay shooting. Thanks again Brad for taking some of us Calgunners to Triple B Clays to experience sporting clays, as I would have probably not have done so as I have never heard of sporting clays till you posted on Calguns.

Also, thank you ROTC sniper for letting me use your shotgun afterwards!

That's ok, we have field 15 there every Sunday. When you make some plans stop by and say hello and shoot.

Hey Ken. Is that open to all. Since Brad is out of town next weekend wouldn't mind trying skeet with some folks that are willing to give a few pointers.

No problem, me and about 6-7 other guys get field 15 and have it all day Sunday, we will be there from about 10am til 3pm, with a break for lunch at noon, all you need is a gun, ammo and a shoot card with how many rounds you want to shoot,(they are $8 for 25 birds.) which you can get at the pro shop. Just come by and introduce yourself.

                      Good job Ken, thanks .

We all need to work together to bring in new shooters.

I'm new to calguns, but it seems like this community is quite friendly. I was disappointed that I couldn't make it out on Sat for a sporting clay lesson... but I would love to come out with a few friends next time you guys plan one!

I purchased my first shotgun a couple of weeks ago.. and I've already convinced 2 friends to buy their own... and a few more are right on the fence. I'm sure a free sporting clay lesson may be just what they need to pull the trigger (no pun intended).

I'll be keeping an eye out for your next event.

And Ken, I may have to take you up on your offer one of these days (if thats alright with you). I've been skeet shooting a total of 12 times and I've been hoping to find someone who could give me a couple of pointers.

Would you guys be ok with helping a noob out?

I can probably make it out either this sunday or next.

                        -John

One more shooter from last Saturday checking in. Thanks, Brad for organizing this event and for generously springing for a round of targets for us newcomers. I have very little experience with shotguns and was a little worried that I would embarass myself, but I ended up having a great time, learned a lot, and will be back. It was great to meet everybody in the group. I encourage all prospective clay shooters to join one of Brad's future events.

                          Jim.
