    Pistol Grips

I'm also new to the shot gun world, and just want to make sure that I can put a pistol grip and forend on my new Mossberg 590 and still be legal in liberal San Diego, California. My understanding is that as long as it measures 26 inches in total, I'm legal?

Your good to go. The only reason to run a PG on the foreend is if your running a PG on the rear. It's actually quite un comfortable to have a regular stocked shotgun and a PG on the forend but your gun do what you will! As long as the gun meets Legal OAL then your A ok.

use the shotgun legality flowchart, http://www.calguns.net/caawid/sgflowchart.pdf , to see how CA and federal law apply to the shotgun in question.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?
