The Original AA-12 was out in the 1970s.

It lead to the development of the Dae Woo USAS-12 in the 1980s.

The new AA-12 is just an updated version of the orginal.


IMO...
The Pancor Jackhammer and HK CAWS were far better select fire shotgun designs than the AA-12.

Seems like a lot of effort, A-5 can be made full auto very very easily and is a damn good design, just make sure you put your shoulder into it.

Except for the weight, and the recoil... and "effective range" with a HE or similar doesn't necessarily mean the ability to score a direct hit on a man-size target.

Does anybody else think a full-auto shotgun is kind of... dumb? In all honesty, if you can't do it with an autoloader - or hell, with a pump action - it just ain't happening.

I can see it if they're going to use it as a light GL, but for an actual shotgun firing slugs or buckshot... just don't see the usefulness of it. On the videos I've seen of the AA12 and other FA shotguns, the rate of fire is pretty low, probably because of recoil/controlability issues as much as anything.

B&B being the idiots they were, no wonder. Both locations closed a couple years ago. Most poorly run stores I've ever walked into.

B&E had a USAS-12 on the rack too when I was young. I remember handling it. I wanted a striker 12 in my younger days. I disliked much of the staff at both stores but got some excellent deals especialy from B&B and their used guns.

I think what makes this the most appealing is the lack of recoil and its controlability. I personally feel that full auto on anything that isn't bolted down is not all that controlable! But would love to fire one of these. Who knows, maybe the 'gun store' will have one for rent some time. It would be fun to do once. And it would be awesome for goose hunting... ;-)

I fired several stick magazines through a USAS 12, as well as two drum magazines through the same weapon.

I am 6", 220 lbs, and have fired everything from an M60, M 14, to a Bren gun from the shoulder and the hip.

The USAS 12 was totally uncontrollable in FA fire, for me at least. Even when exaggerating the lean into the weapon, by the fifth shot, I was at 45 degrees above target and climbing fast.

Then I saw the USAS 12 "infomercial" at a fun show, what a joke, lots of medium sized guys tearing off 20 round bursts with the controllability of a bull barreled .22 Please, what a joke.

It would be very cool, in semi auto mode, as an entry weapon, with all that capacity and quick reload.

But at least in that platform, full auto 12g is a joke and a waste of ammo.

I believe that the AA12 at least is intended to be used with shorter, lower power shells... What ammo were you using?

Edit - I also thought the USAS12 was a Korean derivative, not to be confused with original Atchisson (spelling?) designs and the modern versions.

Edit 2 - Might be wrong about the AA12 using shorter shells, could be confusing it with another auto shottie
