    Remington 1100 problem

    I have a Remington 1100 that will fire and eject the shell but will not feed the next round. In order to get the next shell chambered one has to depress the bottom carriage slightly to get the bolt to release and chamber the next shell.
    Any ideas on what I can do? I'll be willing to spend a few bucks to get her to cycle again but have no idea what to do.

    The round coming onto the carrier from the tube should have enough force to trip the carrier itself. This not happening could be a weak mag spring, there is crud keeping it from tripping correctly or one of a couple other potentials. If this just started happening out of the clear blue sky, might want to have it looked at by a competent 'smith.

      If it happened after a cleaning take it back apart and check that everything was assembled in the correct order and that the parts were not inverted. Also check the o-ring.

        That's exactly what mine was doing. A good cleaning and a replacement rubber 0-ring and she is up and running again.

          As noted, check the mag spring. If its an older model or an HD gun that has rounds always loaded in the mag, then its an easy fix. While you are at it check the gas ports as they tend to gunk up over time and check the o-ring. If you haven't done it in a while, pop out the fire control (trigger assembly) and give it a good cleaning. Its amazing how much unburned powder and gunk that can build up in there. I had one that would do it frequently and I ended up having to modify the carrier latch spring to make it lighter so it would trip easier.

            This is the same problem I have. I cleaned it and made sure the gas rings were on correctly, but it still doesn't function well with most rounds. Magnum turkey rounds go through it flawlessly, but I'd like to be able to shoot something a bit less...
